Our family Kitz leads the Petschnighof in a long tradition. What counts for us is hospitality and sustainable vacation enjoyment.
As avid travelers ourselves, we have explored the world and know what it means to be welcomed into a place. We also bring this warm feeling to our guests.
In line with the sustainable management of our organic farm, we live and work every day exactly as we believe. All who come to us for their most wonderful time of the year, we let them share.
Gerwald Kitz (2. von links) ist der Chef des Hauses, leidenschaftlicher Landwirt und Jäger, aber nicht nur das. Er ist auch ein herzlicher, begeisterter Gastgeber, der seine Gäste mit viel Tipps und Anregungen versorgt. Er organisiert Traktorfahrten für die Kinder, nimmt sie mit zur Erkundung der Natur und zu seinen Wildbeobachtungen.
Gerwald Kitz junior (1. von links) hat die Tourismusschule in Villach abgeschlossen und ist jetzt nach einiger Zeit im Ausland die rechte Hand von Gerwald senior. Mit seinem Vater führt er zusammen den Petschnighof und heißt die Gäste bei ihrer Ankunft willkommen.
The foundation stone for the Petschnighof, as it was seen until 2020, was laid by our grandmother Agnes Slamanig in 1962. She opened a simple guesthouse for vacation guests on the farm and ran it for 22 years. The 5 rooms were simply furnished, the showers for all guests were in the hallway. What may have been lacking in comfort at the time, Grandmother Agnes made up for with much warmth and attention to detail. By the way, the farmstead of Petschnighof has been in our family for 7 generations.
From 1984 the Petschnighof stood empty for 10 years. After this “Sleeping Beauty Sleep” Gerwald Kitz senior took over the farm in 1994. Over the years, the tender little plant of his dream grew into a stately, deeply rooted tree.
The transitions of the Petschnighof were incisive: from the simple pension with farm vacations in Carinthia, to the panoramic country inn to the family resort. And yet, despite all the changes, the host family Kitz has remained true to its roots. The focus remains on our organic farm with sheep, fallow deer, llamas, horses and other animals. They make up the Petschnighof and are our pride and joy.
For our guests we have created over time a lot of vacation comfort. Former agricultural buildings, such as the “Troadkosten” (granary) or the “Moarstubn”, we have converted into cozy, homely alpine huts. In the former chicken coop is now our modern wellness oasis, where our guests can sauna, relax and light up on our sun terrace. Our beautiful natural swimming lake offers your whole family an incomparable swimming experience – afterwards everyone enjoys the sun and the mountain panorama on the sunbathing lawn. To make your riding vacation with our horses at Petschnighof perfect, we have created a spacious riding arena for lessons.
Despite all the changes, we know that nature is our most valuable asset and that the conservation of its resources is paramount. We use the power of the sun to heat our hot water and we heat on the basis of a modern wood chip plant with wood from our own forestry.
